Does the library have wireless internet?
Yes, WiFi is accessible throughout the library. The network is called SkanLib, and there is no password.
Are there computers available for public use?
Yes, there are four computers available for word processing (including Microsoft 2013 Word, Excel, Publisher and Access) and the Internet. Please ask a staff member to log you on. If there are people waiting to use the computer, your time is limited to 30 minutes; however, if no one is waiting to use the computer, there is no time limit. There are also two computers for searching the library catalog.
We also have a scanner available to the public, and you can print from our computers or over WiFi in black & white (10₡) or color (25₡).

- All Other Books: 3 weeks, 2 renewals

How much are overdue fines?
Rapid Reads: $0.35 per day
Books, Magazines, BOCD and Music CDs: $0.15 per day
DVDs: $0.50 per day
***There is also a 1 day grace period***
How do I renew an item?
Click the grey MY ACCOUNT tab on the left of the home page. You will be prompted for your library card barcode (no spaces) and PIN number. Your barcode is on the front of your library card (it will look something like this: 2 9850 XXXXX XXXX). Your 4-digit PIN number was set when you registered for your library card. If you don’t remember your PIN, please call or visit the library and we can reset it for you.
Click on “Items Out” to see a list all of the items on your record. Simply click the check box next to the item(s) you want to renew and then click “Renew Selected Items.” If an item is on hold for another patron, you will not be able to renew it.
If you prefer, you can always call or visit the library, and we’ll be happy to renew your items for you!
How do I place a hold on an item or order an item from another library?
From the record in the online catalog, click on “Place Hold.” If you’re not already logged in to your account, you’ll be asked to do so using your library card barcode and PIN number. Select the library at which you’d like to pick up the item and click “Submit request.”
How will I know when my hold is ready for me to pick up at the library?
You can be notified by an automated phone, email or text message. You probably selected a preference when you signed up for your card, but we can can change it for you at any time.
How do I change my PIN number?
Just call or visit the library. We can’t see what your current PIN number is, but we can change it. If you call, please make sure you have your library barcode number handy.
Can I return Skaneateles items to any library in Onondaga County?
You may return our items to any Onondaga County library, and you may also return any of the other Onondaga County libraries’ materials to Skaneateles. However, Fast Flicks and Rapid Reads must be returned to the owning library.
